The Athenaeum

The Athenaeum is a place of study and academic pursuit, the first branch of which is located in the Elven capitol city of Baerador. The Athenaeum has a second branch atop Dragon Ark, and another in Torandria. The Athenaeum in Baerador has often been visited by many pilgrims hoping to get a look at the wisdom that lies in the pages of the Vault of the Stars.   Each branch of the Athenaeum has several "Elements" wherein specialized areas of study are more deeply delved into. The Torandrian branch, for instance, was home to the Lexis Element prior to the Torn Wars. The Lexis Element was the home to all who held a deep love of language, and one could learn every language on El'dor there, both real and experimental. Lexis students spent most of their time not learning new languages, though, but rather perfecting their language of origin. It was the deep and abiding conviction of these Linguists that ones world was limited by ones ability to master language. They believed that the world could not be separated from the language used to characterize it, nor could their language be cleaved from the environment of the world.
