Dragon
Dragons are a species which, for all intents and purposes, evolves from Dragonites, who themselves were created as a result of the willful breaking down of the body of Koran the Titan Dragon.
Modern El'dor sees dragons and dragonites both living on the floating continent of Taresirat, which is more commonly known as Dragon Ark.
Dragons are ruled by their supreme leader, the Sovereign Dragon. In modern times, four dragon tribes, those of fire, land, water, and lightning, live under the rulership of the Sovereign, while the fifth tribe, that of air, is exiled both by Sovereign rule and by their own choice.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dragons vary in size and shape, based mainly on their elemental aptitude. Each Dragon type is capable of becoming one with their element, allowing them great freedom of movement. All dragons have mouths full of extremely sharp, nearly unbreakable teeth.
Fire Dragons are quite large, second only in size to earth Dragons. Their scales and skin are always a shade of red, though like all dragons it varies widely amongst the fire Dragons. Fire dragons are known to be strong and fast and able to produce fire on demand and influence external fires to varying degrees. They have two expansive wings, four legs, a long tail, sharp, bony protrusions from their joints, and two long horns protruding from the sides or top of their heads.
Land Dragons are the largest Dragons of all. They are heavy like a mountain and nearly impossible to move. They have black, bony protrusions and horns and they are always varying colors of green, brown and gray. They are capable of manipulating to a very strong degree both the ground beneath them and plant life around them. They are also able to grow plant life from their bodies and manipulate it at will. Their wings are immense in order to support their great body weight.
Water Dragons are on the smaller side. Their scales and skin are any number of shades of blue. They have two wings but these wings do not support them in the air nearly as well as they do in the water. Water Dragons can fly of course, but their wings are scaly and fin like and made for extremely quick movement underwater. They have long, straight, sleek horns and webbed paws.
Air Dragons are unique in that they are the only Dragon type to have no wings. Their bodies are long and snakelike and capable of wrapping many times around the body of the average Dragon from a different element. They sport long, wavy horns and have six legs which are rarely used as air Dragons despise being on the ground. Air Dragons are generally varying shades of silver or white.
Lightning Dragons are a special category as there are very few of them. They are deadly quick and powerful. In a head-to-head battle few other Dragons hope to stand a chance. Lightning Dragons are generally blue or yellow and slightly smaller than fire Dragons. Their bodies are always charged with energy and some have said that their wings are only for show, for why does lightning need wings to fly? The wings themselves billow with a cloudy mist and zap the ground, and anyone who gets too close, wherever the Dragon walks.

Genetics and Reproduction
Dragons are, as Dragonites, born into an element (Fire, Land, Air, Water, Lightning) which they carry with them into and after the transformation. This element does not inhibit reproduction, though it does influence the appearance of both Dragons and Dragonites.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Prior to the Torn Wars, dragons subsisted on a mostly carnivorous diet. However, after seeking help from the Druids to win the war against humanity this changed. The Druids instituted a binding magical contract with the dragons which would force all dragons which agreed to the contract to consume veingold and nothing else for survival.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Dragons are capable of using their elements to enhance their senses, almost as if they are one with the element itself. For instance, a water Dragon, if attuning themselves to a certain body of water, may hear the conversation of a nearby group of people, and see their reflection if they are close enough to said water. A fire Dragon might, if attuned to a certain fireplace, might see all that said fireplace lights.
Civilization and Culture
History
Dragons have a interesting history on El'dor. It was the Titan Dragon named Koran who was first created by the celestial Druids at the beginning of the history of El'dor. Their motivations are unknown as none other than Koran and subsequent Sovereign Dragons are known to ever have spoken with them, and their conversations simply aren't recorded.
We do know that Koran was lonely, though, at the beginning. But he was not to remain so. He put his immeasurable power to good use, creating the Titan Elf Lyrica. Lyrica and Koran grew to be very close as they brought all manner of creatures into existence. Over time they realized they sought something more, though they weren't sure what.
They chose to become something both more, and less. They said their last goodbyes and broke their bodies apart. From their titanic bodies were born two distinct species, the Elves and the Dragonites. In each of the members of these new species a part of their creators resided. They knew nothing of who they were or what they were to do. The only thing they knew was who made them and why.
One hundred years after the Breaking Salar, a second generation Dragonite, discovered Koran's Heart and the power it held. Salar touched the massive stone and was pulled up into the sky in a torrent of power where he was the first ever Dragonite to transform into a Dragon, and thereby the new Sovereign Dragon.
After this Salar had those Dragonites who were interested touch the stone as well, but none transformed. It took another century before another Dragonite felt called to Koran's Heart. This Dragonite was pulled up into the sky just as Salar was and became the second Dragon. They realized then that not all Dragonites would become Dragons, and only once every century could the next chosen one be transformed.
To this day the ritual remains the same, though as time progressed and the Dragonite population grew, it was found that more than one Dragonite could be transformed at a time. It would only ever be those that felt a certain power inside, though. This power would grow and grow and eventually become too much to bear. The Dragons are uncertain as to what might happen to a Dragonite who refuses the transformation, though it is widely accepted that death is a probable outcome.

Lifespan
No dragon has ever died of old age, and as a result of this it is widely accepted that they have infinite lifespans.
