Episode 45

The clash at Watcher's Keep rages on as Roan and Groban find themselves face-to-face with three winged Chuul in the dark confines of the prison cells. Meanwhile, the rest of Collective Action is locked in a brutal struggle in the courtyard, where they finish off their remaining foes and rush to reinforce their allies inside.   Inside the cell block, the greater Chuul leave a path of carnage, killing several of the prison guards as the battle unfolds. Chaos erupts when one of the Chuul breaches the avatar of Adonia’s cell. In a swift maneuver, Groban teleports the beast out of her reach, but the relief is brief. Before they can regain control, another Chuul breaks through their defenses, reaching the so-called avatar, and rather than aiding her, the creature slays her on the spot.   After a nail-biting showdown, the adventurers finally defeat the Chuul just as Jarna arrives with a squad of Watchers. Though the battle is won, the cost is steep; the avatar is dead. Her death stands as irrefutable evidence however—the divine avatars are somehow entwined with the aboleth’s sinister schemes.   Following the battle, an attempt to resurrect the fallen woman is disrupted by Tenasma herself, who reveals to Barnabus that this being’s soul cannot return. Left with no other option, the adventurers turn to necromancy, questioning the Angelkin’s corpse. They learn her true identity: Maeve Larksong, a courtesan from Angeltaun. Maeve worked at a brothel known as The Velvet Haven, where her employer Odessa had been like family to her.   With grim revelations in hand, Jarna offers the adventurers respite in the Keep, inviting them to stay the night before continuing on their journey in the morning.
