Tower of Ghosts
A tall stone pillar stands alone at the north end of the mesa, surrounded by smaller pillars that spike at the top. It's rounded sides are solid save for tiny holes with strong iron bars crossed over them. A strong Iron and wood door at ground level is the only entrance in and out of the Tower. During the day, the Tower stands watchful and silent. But at night, an eerie glow can be seen hovering and drifting in and around the top third of the Tower's impressive height. Tales are told throughout the valley of the ghosts that haunt it.
Although it likely began as a natural rock formation, the people of Raone found the Tower already carved out inside with rooms all along the winding spiral path that travels high up inside. Doors made of strong metal and heavy wood are placed on boths sides of the single spiral path, revealing rooms on both the outside of the tower with tiny windows as well as interior rooms with tall walls and breathing holes here and there. It was clear that whomever built it, used it as a prison. When it was found, many of the lower doors were open and unlocked, revelaing empty cells. However above a certain height, all doors were closed and the remains of former prisoners were left behind.
The Tower remained unused for decades until need for an appropriate high security prison was actually needed in the Dom. In 134 AP, an official effort to cleanup the tower and restore it to working order went underway. It was, for the most part, successful. Some say that not every room could be cleaned out. That one door will never open, until it's occupant wants it to.
Only the Guards who work the prison know for sure.
At the base of the Tower is a small, but well built Leyvarr Guard Fort where the Guards who operate the Tower stay for their rotation.
