The Mounds of Morthiel

The Mounds of Morthiel is an area of hills south east of the Dom of Raone. The name originates from the lakeside villages that eventually became Keylara, since they and the bandits were the only people in the region when the people from Alarya came to this world through the portal 183 years ago. It is named after the Demon Lord of the Underdark, Morthiel. Mounds is simply a reference to another term for graves.   The area has been claimed and ruled by a group of Goblin and Orc clans, often at war with each other when not at war with Raone or other neighbors. Gnolls, Trolls, Kobolds, and Lizardfolk are common in the area and are widely known to each have their own mount races that they breed and use for hunting and raiding.   When the clans in the hilly region are united, they tend to increase their attacks on the settlements within their reach, including Lores. And they did so for a long period known now as The Goblin War (148-157 AP), when the Dom of Raone returned their attacks on Lores with attacks of their own. The Leyvarr Guard managed to successfully push back the goblin forces and reclaim the small valley before reaching the hills.   Today, the Mounds of Morthiel are still incredibly dangerous to travel in or near. Extra precautions and guards are always taken when traveling too close to the hills, which makes trade with the Kingdom of Draskon (east of the hills) difficult.
