Kiln and Pelor Competion

Kiln and Pelor got into a competition over the sun. Pelor had domain over the sun and light, but Kiln believed that he was the better choice for a manifestation of light. This leads the two leaving to form their own identity as gods.

Summary

It all started with Kiln commenting about how many gods wielded light and how many worked in the dark, but he felt he was the best fit for a bringer of light as he fought against the dark. Pelor, over hearing this, insisted that not all darkness was bad and that maybe not all light was good. Kiln took this as a challenage, and proposed a contest to Pelor on who was the better fit who the role of a light god. Pelor accepted and they gave themselves a year to determine who was better by any means, but looked at how the light was was seen and how the people prayed.   Kiln used his ability of fighting demon and stopping darkness to protect the light, while Pelor focused on helping the grow crops and healing wounds of the people. Kiln had more physical power to defeat Pelor, who was still a young and new god, but Pelor had the upper hand with the poor people who prayed for good harvest over protection of demons and evil.   Su'Ra soon came to stop the competition by announcing that for all the light they shown, he was still the sun, and Lix above them as the true light, and thus this competion was a pointless endever as with the light out of the equation they were two very different gods. Kiln announced that he would like to offered to teach Pelor how to fight off demons and team up instead; To be the dawn and dusk for evil.   What happened next is contested in different versions of the myth, but all sources agree that Pelor and Nydra left to towards the mountains in the east, where they wanted to carve out a place for themselves, away from the other gods. This place would later become Fyil Wia. And Kiln left for the North with his creation and followers, the elves, to create a home that would later be know as Pastaly

Nydra

Nydra's inclusion in leaving is expanded in her own myths of night and moonlight. But it follows the same reasoning of feeling like they are not wanted or needed by the gods in the area. Pelor and Nydra being young gods made them popular with youths, but most myths show an indifference that the other gods had to them. This is in direct contrast to the view them seem to have on mortals and vise versa, and could have attributed to them leaving.   Nydra in some version is helping Pelor by soothing the darkness that Kiln fought. This has lead to Nydra's follows being quite high and often worshiped along with Kiln.

Variations & Mutation

There are multiple ways that this myth is said to go, the the basics boiling down to Pelor either declining now or accepting and then decling later.   The most common is that Pelor and Kiln didn't compare themselves to each other but with what Su'Ra said and both decided that they needed to find out what kind of light they wished to be, causing both to leave in directions that matched their stlye. Tthe east of the rising sun for Pelor, and the North for Kiln which would make the sun the same but still have a different temp and time in the sky.   Another version is just that Pelor declined and even went so far as to leave after feeling he had no place in the area for another god, and Kiln followed after having no competition / seeing the wisdom in the choice made.
Some have it that Pelor's leaving was a banishment due to not taking the offer. The banishment version is almost forgotten now adays as it makes Kiln seem cruel for no reason. Theories state it was written from angry Kiln follows due to Pelor leaving. and subsequently destroyed by different followers for the slander on Kiln.   Pelor joining Kiln to become a war type god only has evidence in the desert. It goes theat he accepted learning from Kiln and together they mde the Jangwa Desert fighting evil until Pelor couldn't anymore and left Eyant to find peace after the bloodshed and violence.   One account has Pelor and Nydra heading west instead of east towards the setting sun instead of the rising. This might have to do with some version of The Dwarf Knight in Spobbit having a golden Assimar in one of the tales, and this version was found south of Spobbit.

Cultural Reception

While Pelor's numbers of followers have not increased by much other the years in Eyant and surrounding areas, it never decreased and has still held steady with the poor, the farmers, and the general people of the land. This has earn Pelor the title of The Poor Sun.   The move of both of them leaving Eyant has had major impacts on different parts of the world. Both Fyil Wia and Pastaly worship their repected god almost exclusivly, with Pastaly still being more poyltheistic and Kiln just being the main god of worship while FW is almost montheistic. Both countries also have verions of this myth that just start with them leaving to create a home and discard the rest.

This Myth encompasses alot of things and is the foundation for the creation of 2 countries and several religions and rites.
