History
A old festival going back to ancient times. The festival celebrates the wakening of the Goddess Liliana (spring goddess) and thanking Chauntea (the goddess of agriculture) for bringing a beautiful bounty.
As time has gone on, the festival has gotten bigger and bigger. Since the unification of Bas'Cadia, the bloom fest takes place in the capital and has only gotten bigger. It is now one of the biggest festivals in the known world with people coming from all over to participate.
The festival started out as just small celebrations here and there, and only lasting a day or two. But now it last a full week of celebration and fun.
It is also one of several times a year that the high nobles come together across the country and discuss the state of the country.
Execution
The festival starts with the bonfire on the night of the full moon, and then goes on for a week, ending with the celebration of colors.
The bonfire is for the burning away of winter and the warmth of the new. The celebration of colors is for the hope that all the bright colors shall help the spring crops and bring the good fortune into the new year.
Participants
The high Priest plays a major role of lighting the bonfire and stating the main pray as they do so. The Queen, when not talking to heads of state, participates by being the head of the parade. Though, sometimes the crown princess with have the duty if she has been born.
The festival of colors is also started by both the high priest and the Queen, though the real flying of colors happens downtown and not in the more noble areas.
