Unkempt Wood

The Unkempt Wood is a strange, haunted forest in the north eastern corner of Faydwer. Three fourths of the way up the eastern coast, where the Steamfront River flows to the sea, the towering broadroot trees of the Faydark suddenly come to an end. On the river's northern bank, a dense, tightly packed network of alder trees begins. The trees press so closely together in places that they merge forming solid walls of living wood. None of the tree trunks grow straight. All bend and twist on their way upwards. Together the trees create a labyrinth of winding paths that heard travelers along circular routes. Those who enter the wood find themselves constantly returning to where they started unless they carry a Knotted Root with them. The forest is often blanketed in mists, and the trees creak and sway in unsettling ways. Crows and other corvids reside in the forest and their cawing can be heard throughout the zone.   At the heart of this labyrinth lies a meadow with an Ancient Oak at the center. This is where the Unkempt Druids hold their parliaments.
