Feyth

Goddess of Fate and Destiny

Feyth is the Daughter of the powerful God of Time, Pendulos, and she is considered to be the Goddess of Fate and Destiny. Unlike her father who keeps his knowledge about both things of the past and things to come hidden, Feyth shares knowledge of both future and past to guide people to their destiny. However, she if very often cryptic and confusing, and it can be very difficult to interpret her prophecies and visions.     Beliefs and Purpose   Feyth’s beliefs are very similar to her father’s. Pendulos sees all events happening in the world as part of a great story that has a beginning, middle, and an end, and that story needs to be played out. The core Feyth’s belief is similar, and says that everyone has a purpose in life, a role they need to fulfil. That role can mean great things, like being destined to rule a nation or defeating a powerful enemy, or it can be humble, like being a farmer that provides food for the soldiers while being a good husband or wife. One can also be destined for great good or great evil. Yet, no matter how big or small your role, no matter how much good you bring or evil you inflict, Feyth and her Oracles will guide you towards that path, as that is how the story needs to go.   Despite the willingness of Feyth and her followers to help anyone that wants with their destiny, the explanations of the Oracles will always be cryptic, and nearly impossible to understand immediately. Many wonder whether Feyth and her Oracles even understand the cryptic predictions they bring themselves, or whether they simply retell the tale the visions they receive without knowing what it truly means. The followers of Feyth would have you believe of course that they are perfectly able to interpret the visions they receive. According to them, the cryptic way of telling the future is necessary to make sure everyone follows the correct path to their destiny. The Oracles claim that should they state the future clearly, it would have disastrous consequences as people would not walk the correct path.   The belief of Feyth that everyone has a destiny and a path to walk is a very deterministic one. Everyone in the world is assigned a role by fate. Everyone has a destiny. And, according to the Goddess of fate and destiny and her followers, events always play out as foreseen, as they should go. Even the worst and most horrible events in history were foreseen, and needed to happen. When people ask why, the response is often “Because that is how Fate dictated it.” This deterministic approach disliked by many, as they feel they aren’t in control of their own future. Many despise the idea that bad things need to happen, simply because “fate” allegedly says so. Many rulers and other people with power also look at the Oracles with scrutiny, as they consider it a serious threat to their own power.     Followers   The most notable followers of Feyth are the Oracles. The Oracles are devout followers that receive visions of the past and future and can use these to guide people to their destiny. Often they have other powerful divination abilities as well. These Oracles are very rare however, and concentrated in a few temples spread around the world. Few nations have one of these temples within their borders, as more often that not, the Oracles of Feyth will settle in neutral territory.   There are of course Oracles for other Gods as well. The main difference with Oracles serving Feyth however is that they will help people find their own destiny in life, while Oracles from other Deities will very often simply pass on the will of their Deity.   Priests and clerics of Feyth also exist, although they’re very rare outside of the Temples of Feyth where they serve an Oracle. Occasionally one can be found travelling, spreading the world of Feyth and the Oracles. It’s also possible a Cleric is travelling to fulfil his own destiny, and it is also not uncommon for people that visited an Oracle and hear they have a great destiny become a faithful follower of Feyth, serving her while fulfilling their destiny.   While dedicated temples of Feyth with Oracles are very rare, it is not uncommon for Feyth to be part of a temple where many Gods are being worshipped. In those instances she is often displayed alongside her father. The few Temples of Feyth that do exist are often very popular and pilgrimage destinations. Many commoners are interested in hearing what the Oracle has to say about them, although not everyone can afford or even physically make the long trip to these temples.
