Goblin
The adaptable and ever numerous humanoids commonly referred to as goblins. Found in almost all corners of the world, both deep and high.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Goblins are short, usually green humanoids. They have pointy ears and slightly sharper teeth relating them closer to elves than regular humans.
Growth Rate & Stages
Goblins mature the fastest out of any humanoid race, but in turn they have the shortest lifespan of any humanoid race. A goblin will reach full maturity in approximately 8 years, and only end up living 50 - 70 depending on where the goblin is from. Goblins will stay within their full mature state for most of their life, only beginning to age further when reaching the near end of their lifespan.
Ecology and Habitats
Goblins can adapt to living in nearly any environment, evolving within the same generation to be able to live in the environment, but there are notable exceptions where goblins cannot be found, such as Shadehill due to the high amount of natural and vicious predators in the woods, and the Isles of Storms due to the unsustainable land found there.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Goblins, being omnivores, evolve their dietary needs based on habitat. As a few examples, goblins deep within the Osteodor Thicket may evolve more towards the side of herbivores, while those on the coast of Tuya will evolve to be hunters, becoming carnivores.
Behaviour
Goblins usually end up an extremely territorial race compared to others, acting similar to dwarves who establish their mountain cities away from other humanoids. Goblins will pick a location and build up what is known as a tribe, constructing large forts and cities for their tribe away from other civilization, usually attacking or staying wary of those who come near them.
Additional Information
Average Intelligence
Despite how goblins may come off to others, they exhibit a higher than average intelligence when it comes to their own adaptability and innovation. While goblin inventions and machinery may be seen as crude and cobbled together, it is usually perfect in the hands of a goblin, almost intentionally made to not be usable by other races.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The perception capabilities of a goblin can vary the most out of any of their attributes, with goblins in more dense wooded areas developing a keen and far eyesight for the thick brush of the woods, while those who evolve to live underground will develop a sense of dark vision and in more extreme cases, echolocation or tremor sense.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Having no traditional gender norms, a goblin child is usually named after their duty with in the tribe, with an example being the mascot of Karican desert store Turd's Treats, Turd Shoveler. There are times a goblin child is not immediately assigned a role withing the tribe, then being named after their parents favorite words.
