The kingdom of Dhashral
Being from the prestigious elves, the dark elves were gifted in the ways of magic and paid respects to their gods. The dark elves, however, are more interested in their goddess of death, the god in charge of leading deceased elves down the river to the higher realms. Their constant practices of dark magic and preaching drew attention to the higher-ups of the towns and villages, leading to quick scrutinization of their practices. Feeling that their worship was not respected by the masses, a good chunk of the dark elves left to settle down south, where their worship would go interrupted until the humans arrive. In contrast to the elves, practices of necromancy and forbidden magic were common, and their architecture was dark and brooding. When the humans arrived, the dark elves saw their expansion to be a hindrance to the dark elf expansion and practices, thus initiating hostilities, but the humans pushed back hard, and it wasn't long until the dark elves called upon the other elves for aid. The elf's aid came at a critical time for the dark elves (not for the elves, as they were stretched thin from supporting the dark elves and the orc invasion from the east), as the orcs made landing onto Anersha and pushed inland. After the treaty, the dark elves' expansion was capped, but their zealous zeal only grew, thus ramping up their practices. The dark elves now share neutral relations with the other beings, only engaging in mutually beneficial trade, and most are into furthering their dark magical practices and worship.
Other facts:
- Despite their questionable practices, the dark elves are interested in studying magic and performing scientific acts. It’s not uncommon for dark elves to travel out of the kingdom to only collect material for rituals and spells, observe phenomena, and experiment on fauna or other beings
- Even though the war between the dark elves and the humans happened, they have mostly moved on from the hostilities, but there are those who resent humans (even if their kind attacked first)
- Many dark elves are accepting of those who pray to their gods, which is the only way an outsider is allowed to live inside the kingdom
