Jubjub
The Jubjub is, as reported by Lewis Carroll in The Hunting of the Snark, a desperate bird that lives in perpetual passion. Native to the dwarven planet of Thün Büldar, the Edenian jubjub is found exclusively in the Neverland region of Wonderland. There, on a small island on the north side of the Sea of Tears, jubjubs have formed a symbiotic relationship with Jack's Beanstalk.
The beanstalk, with no natural defenses against predators seeking steal its magic, has partnered with the jubjub to keep itself safe. The beanstalk gets protection and the jubjub gets food and shelter. It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
Except people trying to climb the beanstalk, that is. They’re fobbed.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The jubjub has a small ovular body; the long, thin, and spindly legs of a flamingo; the general wing shape and fluffiness of feathers found in the ostrich; and the head of a rather dim-looking cartoon dinosaur. It is a ridiculous sight to behold, though the absurdity of its appearance masks the sinister reality of its deadliness.
The jaws of the jubjub are incredibly powerful, capable of crushing the sturdiest of bones. Its teeth are razor sharp. And its hunger is near limitless.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Jubjubs are opportunistic, hypercarnivorous scavengers. They will eat anything that moves and that they do not already recognize as a friend. Above all else, jubjubs crave novel tastes. If the spot a living thing they haven’t eaten before, their desire to taste it is undeniable.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The eyes of the jubjub enable it to see across vast distances and in the dark. It has two sets of eyelids, one more translucent than the other, which allows the bird to protect itself from even the most blinding lights without obscuring its vision altogether. And when all else fails, it can echolocate with a voice which sounds like chalk squeaking across a chalkboard.
The bird has an incredible memory, remembering any person or creature which has treated it kindly in the past and treating those “friends” with the utmost respect. The jubjub is immune to bribery and coercion, however, so one must be sure that any offering made to it comes from a place of selflessness and true camaraderie.
I love the jubjubs.

Thank you. They were fun. I've known for years that I wanted to create versions of each of the creatures mentioned in "Jabberwocky," so this was a great time to continue that important work!
