Duckpunk
Duckpunk is an Edenian subculture which sprung up in the aftermath of The Invasion of Oz and the forced relocation of all the halflings of Eden. While the movement was created by wolaríxkín who were angry at the treatment of their halfling friends, the subculture now encompasses members of every sapient species that calls Eden home. So long as you’re willing to shrug off the oppression of wearing pants, you are welcome to call yourself a Duckpunk.
Customs & Values
Duckpunk, like other punk movements, is characterized more by what it is against than what it is for. Duckpunks are anti-authority, anti-capitalist, anti-corporation, anti-consumerist, anti-greed, and obsessed with not “selling out.” As for what a Duckpunk is for, that depends on which Duckpunk you’re asking.
While dress codes vary wildly across the Duckpunk spectrum, the subculture is well-known for its aversion to wearing pants. This practice originated with the wolaríxkín founders of the movement, whose species has no need for trousers of any sort, but has since become a core part of the Dunkpunk ethos—regardless of whether you’ve got something to hide/protect down there or not.
It’s important to note that the prohibition against pants does not extend to underpants, though plenty of Duckpunks forgo those as well.
In terms of Duckpunk traditions, the most famous is their insistence on seeking out interesting turns of phrase during a conversation and then uttering—seemingly out of nowhere—that said phrase will be the name of their new band.
This made me laugh.
