Bards Cast Member
Bards Cast Members are amongst the most admired actors and comedians in Eden—and amongst the most well-paid. Any performer worth a damn longs for a chance to play Rook, Cadence, Harlow, Aria, Thalia, or Orin. And yet, there are only six roles and only so many companies performing the show. Therefore, the position of Bards Cast Member is one job that many people aspire to but very few achieve.
Career
Qualifications
Stage presence and the ability to improvise are crucial for the position, more important even than extensive experience or formal training. A degree from Yesterland Academy might help you get your foot in the door, but if you bomb the audition then your diploma won’t save you.
Musical ability is also a plus, though some Cast Members are not trained in the instrument their character is supposed to play in the show and somehow work around that.
Career Progression
After passing through several rounds of auditions, the new Cast Member typically takes up a position in one of the lower-tier touring companies. They are free to apply for positions in a more prestigious company at any time, but a novice is likely to go through yet another arduous audition process each time they seek to move up in the world.
The companies performing out of Kirbyville and Frult Üft are considered the crème de la crème, with positions there typically only opening up when the actors age out of their roles.
Payment & Reimbursement
Compensation varies from company to company, though even the cast of the lowliest touring company makes significantly more than they would for any other role. As for the casts in Kirbyville and F.U., they make enough to live large and in charge in two of the most expensive cities in the world.
Perception
Purpose
To entertain the masses of this post-apocalyptic paradise with an improvised situation comedy centered around a sextet of bards looking for work.
Social Status
The cast members of Bards, particularly those working in the big companies, are beloved celebrities.
I love the concept that BARDS is a traveling Broadway-style stage play. It also feels like Critical Role in my head. Thanks again for the inspiration.

You're so welcome! I think I may have subconsciously made it a traveling show so that I could have them turn up in the comic book, lol.
I'd love to see, "We were on a break" immortalized in your comics!
