Wyrwood Tree
A species of hollow coniferous trees with white bark and teal pines. It is often said that Wyrwood trees are the homes of tundra spirits, or that the essence of the tundra is infused into its wood. Although there is no concrete evidence, there have been many accounts of the trees changing location during heavy blizzards.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Wyrwood Tree is a rare species of conifer with pale, white bark and a trunk which contains a hollow cavity at its base, inside of which various creatures hide to keep warm from the frigid, tundra environment where the tree grows. This cavity is located at the base of the tree and usually has a small entrance near the root structure, keeping the inside warm at the cost of entry being somewhat difficult. The cavity does not harm the overall structural integrity of the tree.
The branches of a Wyrwood Tree twist in unnatural, erratic directions, teal pine needles exploding outwards in circular fascicles all about the branches' surface.
Wyrwood Trees don't grow as tall as other coniferous due to their twisting trunk and branches, so they are usually impossible to spot looking at the treeline.
Ecology and Habitats
Wyrwood Trees are only found in low temperature environments, often found growing among other coniferous trees. In general, they are considered very rare, and are not encountered often.
