Valenar Elves
The following is an excerpt from Onward to the Past: My Adventures in Eberron by celebrated playwright and pathfinder Martus Makfleye d'Phiarlan:
The elves who call themselves the Valaes Tairn primarily inhabit the fledgling nation of Valenar. They are tediously boastful and will inevitably be your first dinner guest to break something, whether that be a crystal goblet or another guest's nose. Like their cousins, the Aereni Elves, the Valenar revere their dead ancestors to a degree that, frankly, is a bit ridiculous. Rather than taking romantic walks on the beach with their shambling, mummified corpses like the Aereni, the Valenar try to emulate or surpass the heroic deeds of their forebears. If nothing else, they deserve laurels for turning "seeking daddy's approval" into a way of life. Valenar elves love combat, their horses, and their families. In that order. Any individual with a weapon near to hand is likely to find employment or welcome somewhere in that eponymous nation, although the welcome may be a challenge to duel by young warriors seeking to prove themselves and the employment almost certainly will include dodging sharp metal objects. Any traveler who prefers not having to fight belligerent elves every time they make an innocent joke about Valaes Tairn tongue-kissing their horses should give Valenar a pass.
