Originally created by Keith Baker for a contest run by Wizards of the Coast, his world excited me and engaged my imagination. What follows is my interpretation of his creation.  

Close your eyes and imagine a world pulsating with the thrum of arcane technology, where airships powered by bound elementals traverse the skies, and trains hum with lightning-driven speed. Welcome to Eberron – a realm where pulp adventure meets noir mystery, where the echoes of a century-long war still reverberate, and the future is a canvas waiting for your legend to be etched upon it.

 

Eberron isn't just another fantasy world; it's a dynamic, living stage crafted for boundless possibilities. Here, magic isn't a forgotten art, but an industry; a practical force woven into the very fabric of society. The grand, noble houses aren't just landowners, they are powerful corporations wielding influence that spans nations. And the lines between good and evil? They're blurred, painted in the nuanced, complex shades of circumstance and ambition.

 

The Last War, a devastating century-long conflict, has barely ended, leaving behind a continent scarred but vibrant with new opportunities and lingering mysteries. Nations are rebuilding, fragile alliances are being tested, and beneath the surface, ancient evils stir, whispered about in dark corners and arcane prophecies.

 

This is a world of unique races – the newly emancipated warforged seeking their place in a world that created them for war, the shapeshifting lokumites navigating a society built on secrets, and the bestial skinwalkers connected to the wild heart of the land. Each race, each nation, each Dragonmarked House holds a piece of the world's grand tapestry, and your story can be the thread that binds them, or unravels them.

 
  1. a private eye in Sharn, the City of Towers, a vertical metropolis soaring into the clouds. A prominent noble has been murdered, and the city guard seems strangely uninterested. Your investigation leads you through sky-high wizard-towers and into the grimy underbelly of the Cogs, navigating the intricate web of Dragonmarked House politics, Guild enforcers, and shadowy criminal syndicates. Every clue opens a new door, every witness holds a secret, and the truth might be more dangerous than the lie.  
  2. An expedition into the bizarre and warped wilderness of the Mournland, the land ravaged by an arcane cataclysm, now a perpetual, grey, and deadly mist. Whispers speak of ancient artifacts, forgotten war machines, or even survivors trapped within its shifting borders. Or perhaps to the wild, untamed jungles of Xen'drik, the ancient continent that holds secrets of the long-lost giant empires and enigmatic, powerful creatures. To brave these lands is to redefine courage, to face the very unknown and return with revelations that could reshape the world.  
  3. A master spy, a diplomatic envoy, or a corporate operative in the gilded halls of a House Cannith workshop, or the secretive conclaves of the Aurum. Their mission: to secure a vital schematic for a new elemental binding process, to uncover a treasonous plot against the fragile peace, or to retrieve a stolen artifact that could tip the balance of power. Every conversation is a negotiation, every glance a potential tell, and your sharp wit and cunning are your only weapons against the greatest minds and most powerful factions on the continent.  
  4. Walk in the metal shell of a warforged, newly freed from the shackles of war, grappling with what it means to be alive. Do you seek purpose in the ruins of the last battlefield, fighting for justice for your fallen brethren? Do you strive to master a new craft, proving your place among the "flesh and blood"? Or do you pursue the elusive dream of finding a soul, a spark of true life that your creators never intended? Your journey is one of self-discovery, of carving out an identity in a world that struggles to understand you.  
  5. Hear the whispers of the Draconic Prophecy, a vast, cosmic tapestry woven by the dragons of Argonnessen, foretelling events that span millennia. Perhaps you discover part of this prophecy ties directly to your own bloodline, or a seemingly insignificant artifact you hold. An ancient evil, locked away for eons, stirs beneath the surface of Eberron, threatening to unravel reality itself. Your destiny is not merely to survive, but to become a pivotal figure in a battle for the very fabric of existence, your actions determining the fate of all.
  Eberron is a canvas of boundless potential, where every street corner holds a mystery, every sky lane promises adventure, and every character can forge their own destiny. It calls to the bold, the curious, and the imaginative.
