Personal history

Lhesh Haruuc Shaarat'kor is a legendary hobgoblin general of the Rhukaan Taash (razor crown) clan who in 969 YK led a revolt against his employers, carving out a homeland for his people.

Before this, he was a mercenary in the employ of House Deneith. Leading up to his goblin revolution, he was able to ally himself with enough goblin tribes and strategically place goblin mercenaries, whose loyalty were to him, not their employers, around the Breland-Cyre border, that when the time was right, noone could stop him. Claiming large territories in eastern Breland and southern Cyre, the nation of Darguun was born, and Haruuc claimed the title of lhesh, meaning 'high warlord.' Since the end of the Last War, he has had his hands full, trying to convince foreign leaders that his people desire peace with the Five Nations, while trying to hold together a kingdom that was only united by promises of conquest.

Motivation

When Haruuc was young, he heard the tale of Jhazaal Dhakaan. At first, he was skeptical of the idea of a powerful and well-run empire consisting mostly of goblins. He had lived his childhood in squalor, and every goblin he had seen was either dead by the hands of the other races or under their control, one way or another. Like most goblins, he resented this, but accepted it as the fate of his race. The night he heard the story of the bard-queen, he fell asleep in front of the fire on the hard earth. When he awoke, he remembered having a profound vision: he saw himself seated at the top of a mountain, a flaming crown on his head, overlooking an endless horizon of goblin troops. From that day, Haruuc had more drive than any goblin of his time. He would intimidate, backstab, invade, and subjugate anyone he had to get to the top of that mountain.
