Lizardfolk

The name Lizardfolk refers to a collection of reptilian humanoid species that inhabit the jungles of Eberron, primarily in Q'barra and Xen'drik.   The lizardfolk of Q'barra are one of the oldest races on Khorvaire. During the Age of Demons, they were dominated by the overlord Masvirik until they were freed by the couatl and the formation of the Silver Flame. The couatl planted a seed in the collective consciousness of the lizardfolk to unite them and help them prevent Masvirik from ever rising again: the lizardfolk shared dreams. These dreams aren't just dreams as know them, but lessons. They dream of the battles their ancestors fought against the demons, and they learn how to fight from these dreams. They dream of Masvirik, and these dreams teach them what they are fighting against and why it must never be allowed to escape it's bonds.   The lizardfolk of Q'barra have no written language, because they don't need one. Everything they need to know is communicated to them via their dreams, and this had lead to their culture remaining largely unchanged despite being ancient. Their dreams haven't changed, and their dreams tell them how to live their lives. They all know the same stories, and the idea of having to explain these references is alien to them. Everyone knows their stories, so why they ever need to explain them?   This makes communication with the lizardfolk difficult, because even spells like comprehend languages can't unpack the context behind their metaphors. The lizardfolk of Q'barra call themselves the Masvirik'uala, which literally translates to "Cold Sun Federation". The lizardfolk understand this to mean that they stand against the Cold Sun. However, most humans assume that this is the federation of the Cold Sun, that it's something they rally around.   Likewise, it is obvious to the masvirik'uala that the people they kill in Q'barra are agents of the Cold Sun, and they know from their experience with the Poison Dusk and other corrupted creatures that there is no reasoning with, or saving, those who have fallen to Masvirik's corruption. The only mercy they can provide is a quick and painless death.   The masvirik'uala are completely united. They don't appear to have a governmental structure in place that binds them together, but they don't need one. They all share the same background and values. The tribes never fight, they work together to share territory and resources. They aren't set apart by petty feuds or hunger for glory, they all know the enemy they must stand against, and they all know the consequences for failure.
