Session 99: Sanctuary of Sora Kell

General Summary

  • Even entering the Sanctuary caused a great deal of exhaustion upon each of them. N'nchyk in particular assumed the fetal position in the corner.
  • The Crew began their journey through the strange, alien, crystalline Sanctuary. With the lack of gravity, Viribus was able to Levitate the entire party around. A figure-shaped void seemed to stay the same distance from them as they traveled throughout, three crystalline moons orbiting around it.
  • When pondering an inscription on the Sanctuary's rear wall, ribbons of golden light pulsed with primordial concepts. When interpreted through the magical nature of Ashpin's connection to Sylvain, they gave information related to the inscription - that it may be useful later.
  • These golden ribbons reappeared whenever there was some sort of particular difficulty.
  • The group encountered a massive, alien glass flower. On each petal was a glimpse to one of the planes. After solving a puzzle, Frisian began identifying the planes - managing to identify all of them successfully.
  • Bagan then experienced all the horrors.
  • The Crew then began to confront the void - asking them Forbidden questions, in exchange for Forbidden secrets. The first secret revealed was the following: what the Crew was about to learn, none have done before, in history, ever. Not man, not dragon.
  • Proceeding further, a large throne in the center of the Sanctuary was discovered. Solving a riddle upon it revealed that it could be used to clarify the cryptic, through reflection.
  • The more the Crew explored, the more glyphs they unlocked - esoteric runes that appeared on their faces after being solved successfully.
  • The void was confronted some more.
  • The Crew then discovered murals etched upon the inner curve of one of the walls, but this too required the solving of a puzzle, using the key they discovered earlier. It took a collective effort to discern the key, but the meaning was eventually revealed, along with the murals themselves. The Crew raced to piece the murals together the fastest.
  • The void was confronted some more.
  • At the opposite end of the crystal, they saw on its outside a strange wound — a raw, blackened, warped tear, around which the golden crystal structure is rough, splintered, and fractured. Through the use of his own magic, N'nchyk determined that this scar was ancient, and a mark of something extraordinarily powerful.
  • Combining their solutions of all the glyphs, the Crew unlocked the final portion of the Sanctuary, in which a strange cradle resided. Inside the cradle was Xharrakash, and connected to the cradle was a strange lattice. This lattice gave hints as a feeling; a vision, a fragment of fate. Through collective willpower and knowledge, the Crew successfully completed the lattice, revealing more lore.
  • Released from the Cradle, the Crew finally spoke with Xharrakash, the medusa warlord. One of her arms was warped - overly large, fleshy, and partially encased in stone.
  • She was brought to the Sanctuary by the Daughters, for safety from her pursuers - the Lords of Dust - and healing of the corruption of the Tyrant Codex. She knew such aid could have come in other ways — she must have been sent here for a reason, and for them to follow. She was told to wait for the arrival of a known Six.
  • She insisted the Crew swore fealty to Droaam, but Viribus resisted - he was sick of being a pawn, of swearing fealty to this or the other. Xharrakash said that dedicating yourself to Droaam was not pledging blind allegiance to a political entity, it was dedicating yourself to the best chance Eberron has against the coming darkness. It is not to be a pawn, but an indispensible asset. To fighting against this darkness, if not for yourself, than for everyone else.
  • Xharrakash then gave information on how she came across the Tyrant Codex. It was uncovered deep beneath Vrigan by a group of drow, but it began to corrupt them. They sought to sell it to a Khorvarian buyer - a black ops Brelish team, tipped off by the King's Citadel. At the command of Sora Katra, Xharrakash was dispatched to intercept this black market exchange. She neutralized both buyer and seller, seizing the Codex fragment.
  • The fragment she has is the last remaining fragment and the Daughters have the rest of the united Codex. Assembling the full Tyrant Codex is an important aspect of Droaam’s preparation.
  • Because of her time spent in the Cradle, Xharrakash knew of what it could do. It was capable of reconstruction of fundamental constructs of matter — undoing of harm, recreation of a facsimile.
  • And so, the Tyrant Codex fragment was duplicated, Xharrakash collecting the original.
