Session 104: Entering the Ruins
General Summary
- Crew did not take Lord Anvilbender's deal. He respected their decision to choose the right of conquest.
- As a farewell gift, Lord Anvilbender grants Bagan a magically enhanced Oil of Sharpness — a bonus action to apply to any weapon (including magic), gives his weapon a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls for 1 minute
- Linette separated N'nchyk and Ashpin to talk about the daelkyr. Many things were discussed, including why only the Gatekeepers knew about such a terrible threat, N'nchyk's past with them, Kyro's push to change tradition, a potential return to the Still Gleam Circle for N'nchyk, a proposed (but unlikely) alliance between the Gatekeepers and Dusk Watchers, beef between daelkyr and Lords of Dust (a potential advantage), and any potential motives for the daelkyr.
- She also wanted to speak about a more pressing threat - the return of the Rage of War. She asked Frisian specifically, as he told her he had been visited by Tira Miron directly, what he knew. Many things were discussed:
- She asked if there was a timeline to his return.
- She said the Silver Flame has been slowly weakening. In fact, there have been some reports that some clerics' magic has been failing.
- The Crew mentioned the warforged colossus, and Linette seemed taken aback, but thoughtful at the idea. She eventually said if it was what Tira Miron said was necessary, it truly must be the best option. Perhaps the only option. And they are likely the only ones that can do it.
- Lords of Dust prophecy manipulation
- If the imbuing of divine magic was necessary, it may be worth speaking with Jaela Daran, the Keeper of the Flame of Thrane.
- Lastly, she said that the consequences of an Overlord returning would be era-defining - it perhaps would be the last era, ever.
- Meanwhile, Rolbin d'Kundarak and Frisian were indulging in some porphyry. Rolbin was chewing the crystal directly, but let Frisian borrow his rather stately crystal crusher.
- Rolbin engaged in some powerful abjuration magic to remove the Kundarak seal that led deeper into the tunnels.
- Once outside the entrance to the mines - the mines that were once Mror territory, from which the entrance to the Soulforge was discovered - the Crew came across a duergar with am old, horrible head wound. He said he had been banished by his people because of this wound, saying he could not dream. He spoke in fear of the forgemaster.
- The Crew then entered the mines and slaughtered his entire family. Several types of duergar were in the battle, alongside some strange aberrations with a maw for an arm. A combination of battlefield control, smart movement, and a Viribus masterclass led the Crew to swift and convincing victory.
- The Crew then explored the area of the mines, finding the way forward.
