Session 102: Orcish Violence and Dwarvish Debate
General Summary
- Negotiations: orcs wanted 75 gold for each dwarf they were letting pass
- Crew agreed, but then the orcs saw the money easily procured and said there would be 150 gold for each of them to leave
- Tried using the fake gold from the Boromar base, Viribus performed well to pretend they didn't want to part with it, but N'nchyk could not hide it well enough. Combat started both at the camp and the caravan after a loud horn was blowed
- At the camp: orcs poured from the camp entrance, a magical darkness was dispelled by Frisian's light, Ashpin cast Hypnotic Pattern, orcs dealt good damage to start, Frisian summoned a Wall of Fire, tide began to turn, Fireball and Sunbeam were devastating, Viribus shot a fleer and returned him as a spirit, last orc almost killed Dino'nchyk
- At the caravan: father and son worked well together, commanding Dooturr to attack was extremely effective, Dooturr cast Web, Bagan failed in the darkness but landed a crit
- Explored the orc camp - found their own gold melded with the fake gold, as well as additional gold and potions throughout. There was a sleepy cave bear and orcs, as well as some giant spiders; both were left alone
- Lord Anvilbender talked to Ashpin about plans for the Below, his perspective, and how the Crew could help. The entirety of whatever lied below was too large for the Crew to handle alone, but recovering the Soulforge is something they could do, and would a powerful tool in their preparations
- Lord Anvilbender once had a similar dream to Bagan, and it led him to the entrance of the Soulforge
- Lord Anvilbender had an uncomfortable conversation with N'nchyk, but amends were made possibly as best they could
- Everything else before the Council was unremarkable
- Council itself: Viribus encouraged them to choose information and time, appealed to their nature as men of war; many of the clans are living in the shadow of former glory and instead have turned to wealth and intrigue; Viribus' comments appealed to the nature of how many of the lords saw themselves. He and Lord Anvilbender debated Lord Tordannon
- Ashpin: initially argued with himself, said he didn't know what to choose, Hareth said he needed conviction
- The Council decided to militarize
