When the Gods Took Back the World
After the many years of failed attempts to free Ebbavion off the demonic suppression, Xelene and Randia convinced Gretris and Linos to intervene. They created prison in the Realm of Chaos where they banished all demons.
For over 150 years, the demon legions of Kael’Dun ruled with terror, their creator Celian Maleficium standing unchallenged after three failed divine wars. The angels lay scattered, their numbers broken. The mortal realms remained chained, and whispers of hope had grown cold.
Realizing that direct confrontation had failed, Xelene and Randia turned to those whose power rivaled even Celian’s:
Gretris, the Motherdragon, first goddess of creation, keeper of chaos and magic,
And Linos, god of darkness and creator of the Nevaelyth.
Together, these four deities devised a solution not through battle, but through cosmic force. Rather than risk the world with another war, they would seal the threat away forever.
Between 19845 and 19843 BCE, the gods created an immense, shifting prison known only as The Chains Beyond the Veil, located deep within the Realm of Chaos. This prison, constructed from divine law and chaotic energy, became a sealed dimension of torment and isolation—crafted specifically to contain demonkind.
Then, in a single act of divine unity, the gods banished the entirety of Celian’s demonic armies. The ritual shook the realms. Rifts howled across Ebbavion. Cities cracked. Storms of chaos magic swept the skies as the legions were torn from the world and imprisoned.
This moment marked the end of the Aeon of Doom.
But it was not a total victory.
At the climax of the banishment, when the gods turned their power toward Celian herself—she vanished. Slipping through the veil in the moment between fate and finality, Celian escaped their grasp. Neither her body nor her soul were ever found. Some believe she had foreseen even this, and had prepared contingencies. Others claim she allowed the banishment, biding her time, knowing that empires are not always built in the open.
In the aftermath, the gods withdrew. The angels returned to the divine planes, diminished and divided. The mortal races, freed from the shadow, began the long, painful process of rebuilding.
But even now, deep within Manfail Isle, the location of the Nine Chains, the air is still heavier than it should be. The ground still breathes.
“We sealed the wound. But we did not remove the blade.” – Gretris, final words before departing the mortal plane
