The Conquest of Eslira and the Birth of Kael’Dun

In the years following the creation of demonkind, Celian Maleficium unleashed her armies upon the fractured kingdoms of ancient Eslira and the northern reaches of Valon. Fueled by raw chaos and led by her six Demon Generals - each forged from an aspect of her own soul - she began what would later be known as The Siege of the Oppressor, a ten-year campaign of total domination.

The initial assault was swift and unrelenting. Mortal defenders crumbled under the weight of her demon legions, not just because of their strength, but because of Celian’s ruthless strategy: she offered rulers the illusion of surrender, only to chain them to her will through dark pacts and soul-binding oaths. Some rulers submitted willingly, swayed by promises of power, immortality, or vengeance. Others resisted and were turned into monuments of her cruelty - entombed alive in the walls of their cities, forced to watch their nations fall.

At the heart of this campaign was the construction of Viremalas, Celian’s capital and the seat of her empire that soon became known as Kael’Dun. Built upon the ruins of seven conquered cities, the City of Stone was raised by demon hands, its foundations laced with sigils of binding and whispered names. The streets were paved with black marble; the towers carved with curses; and at its core stood the Throne of Chains, from which Celian issued her decrees, binding mortals and Gandor alike.

By 19996 BCE, Celian ruled all of Eslira and much of northern Valon. Her dominion was absolute. The gods watched from afar, disturbed not only by her power, but by the worship she received. Though she was no god, temples rose in her name, and cults across Ebbavion began invoking her as the "True Queen of Chaos."

The Siege of the Oppressor marked the beginning of the Aeon of Doom, an era where even the divine began to fear what they had once believed unthinkable:

A Gandor who might overthrow the gods themselves.
