The Vestige of Duress
The Huo Nù or Fire Rage as it is directly translated is the Vestige of Duress. Huo Nù has been identified as a female oni with extreme control over her body and being. Oni’s are, according to lore tomes of the Elegant Gate and Hibatan history, demon-like creatures created from the evil side of Hitotsu. Huo Nù through her wits, resourcefulness and versatility have taken on the mantle of the war vestige. Hitotsu knew how to react under extreme duress, like e.g. battlefields filled with death and destructions. During these extreme moments of stress, is where Hitotsu via careful breathing and a steady mind came to understand that it is in moments where we are the most vulnerable physically that we strengthen ourselves via mental capacity. No matter how strong you might be, it's the mind that empowers the body. A strong mind makes a strong person. That's why despite onis being generally very violent, ferocious and spontaneous creatures, Huo Nù is in control of what she does. However her violent oni side is still hidden inside of her, she just knows how to flick a mental switch that turns her calmness and steadiness into violent ferocity. Her job as a vestige is to keep the people of Hibata safe, when still on the other side of the Elegant Gate one must know how to fend for themselves, and Huo Nù will be your guidance.
