Cimetière (Ci-me-tiae-re)
The Undertaker
Cimetière, or Cimi as the other Loas call him, is the most laid-back loa of the sling. You will most often find him at a bar or at a cemetery, come flying and sit on the stool next to old pirates, thieves and the like and drink the last glass of whiskey before following them to the other side. Besides that, he spends most of his time in what he calls "the invisible realm of vodou spirits" which no one has yet to place, even Cimetière himself. Often when questioned or asked about, he will respond with a confusing and vague response. It's through Cimetière that most information about the Loa spirits has been derived or theorised. The Loa spirits origin has been deducted through Cimetières description as being from the River Styx, as Cimetière seems genuinely fascinated with the aspect of mortality and describes his job as ensuring souls safe passage to the afterlife. Cimetière has gone on to state that he can usually be found at the crossroads between the worlds of death and the living. When someone dies, he digs their grave and greets their soul after they have been buried, leading them to the underworld.
Divine Power
Many have theorised about the power of Cimetière, as his occupation has sparked much curiosity. It has been discovered through careful testing with many clerics that Cimetière in fact can cure mortals of any disease or wound, so long as he thinks it is worthwhile. His powers are especially great when it comes to curses and black magic. Even if somebody has been afflicted by a powerful hex that brings them to the verge of death, they will not die if Cimetière refuses to meet the death. This refusal seems verbal and relates to some kind of incantation. The discovery of these powers has led to many seeing Cimetière and his brothers as gods. Thereby prayer is offered to Cimetière through different burial rituals. In many Prim Islan cemeteries, the longest standing grave is designated as the Gate of Cimetière and is seen as a great honour to have as a title. A cross is placed at a crossroads in the cemetery to represent the point where the mortal and spiritual world cross.
