Woolly-Bear Drake

Gounanasaurus saros

Gounanasaurus saros (Woolly-Bear Drake) is one of the last species of Megalosaurs surviving on a hollow earth mainland in direct competition with the more successful tyrannosaurs and dromaeosaurs. This 4 meter long generalist calls the fairly cooler temperate forests of Titanios home, where its thick coat of woolly feathers keep it warm during the cool wet season, fur colours are usually found in browns, greys, blacks and occasionally whites. Woolly Drakes are omnivores, a rare trait among theropods, its diet consists of berries, eggs, carrion and small-mid sized live prey. This omnivorous, generalist lifestyle is most likely the reason the Woolly Drake as survived alongside larger carnivores.

During the wet season, pregnant females will make dens in caves, outcrops or holes in the ground and enter a state of semi-torpor, only walking up when the time to lay her clutch comes before reentering the torpor, her body temperature will drop to conserve energy but will remain warm enough to keep her eggs from freezing. The chirps of her hatching clutch will awaken her and from then on she will remain active to feed herself and her brood.
