Thalassotyrannus
Thalassotyrannus apeilitikós
Thalassotyrannus apeilitikós (Menacing Ocean Tyrant) is a macropredatorial mosasaur of massive proportion, nearing 30 meters in length, these leviathans are the top of the food chain. Thalassotyrannus' patrols the warm Phorcys Ocean surface where it preys upon anything it can get in its mouth, from sharks to whales and even smaller mosasaurs.
Thalassotyrannus are oddly colourful, with dark green bodies covered in brilliant shiny sliver spots. This is theorized to be a form of mimicry, light shining off of the silver scales would appear to be a school of fish to any would be predators, and when it gets too close, the mosasaur will strike. However Thalassotyrannus is not limited to the ocean surface, occasionally individuals will descend into the depths to hunt giant cephalopods and plesiosaurs. When not hunting or traveling, these large reptiles rest at the surface of the water and allow flocks of seafaring birds and pterosaurs land on their backs to pick barnacles and other parasites off its skin, and the braver individuals will pick flesh and debris from the mosasaur's open mouth.
Females travel to the gulf of Valhalla during calving season to give birth to 3-5 calves. The calving season occurs just before the wet season, which results in vast costal flooding of the continent, which young Thalassotyrannus take advantage of. Juvenile Thalassotyrannus are far more serpentine than the adults, which allow them to travel inland to hunt as well as take refuge among the sunken trees. The young mosasaurs will grow quickly however and will usually live the safety of the flooded forests near the end of the wet season, by then they are large enough to defend themselves in the open waters of the gulf.
