Slender Demon

Guillotiopteryx daemonus

Silently stalking the open forests and grasslands of the Vernean Cavern is a predator that strikes fear into the KRS tasked with exploring the Hollow Earth unlike any other. The Slender Demon is one of the most common mesopredator in its range, but given that it towers up to 5 meters tall, "small prey" could be anything up to 90kg which puts people on the menu. Nearly 45% of KRS casualties are the result of demon predation.

Slender Demons are cooperative hunters, flocks stride into clearings to flush out and corner animals hiding in the brush before scooping them up in their heavily built beaks and cutting them in half if they can't be swallowed whole. Portions of the carcass are divvied up among the flock based on a pecking order.

In the drier South Lemuria, Slender Demons have learned to spread and cultivate fires to aid in hunting, flocks have been reported splitting into two separate teams, one focuses on keeping the fire going while the other surplus kills.

Like many Western Azhdarchids, Slender Demons winter in the highlands of Juland, using the high mesa cliffs to nest and incubate their eggs in relative safety. Despite being commonly classed as a Lemurian pterosaur, Slender Demons have a cosmopolitan range, with flocks summering in both Titanios and Pellucidar and occasionally North Western Siccora.
