The human populations of the Hollow Earth are scattered and separated by vast amounts of dangerous wilderness, travel beyond their settlements is rare. But when communication between societies is needed, the Ambassador Macaws are employed. Filling a role similar to messenger pigeons on the Surface, with the added benefit of being far more intelligent, able to avoid aerial predators that would pose a threat to the safe delivery of the message. Domesticated from a migratory parrot in Southern Lemuria, Ambassador Macaws already had the instincts needed for long distance travel since their ancestors would travel from South Lemurian plains to the central wetlands during the dry season when food was scarce.

Friendly and intelligent, the Ambassador Macaws are common in large settlements, considered both a pet and a form communication. These parrots are especially crucial in diplomatic ventures, able to both deliver treaties, invitations and surrenders quickly and efficiently, preventing countless wars and disputes. Ambassador Macaws are also often brought into council meetings between different tribes. where they are known for their ability to ease tension with their silly and playful antics.

But should war be inevitable, Ambassador Macaws are used by soldiers to communicate and plan over long distances, their cleverness makes it extremely difficult to prevent them from reaching their destinations.
