Metaphysical / Paranormal event
A power witch/echo named Annie returned from her deep slumber and start killing people with higher levels of psionic energy to fuel herself for a powerful ritual that would absorb all the new psionic energy being born. She was stopped by Rex murphy and his friends.
On December 20, 1999, two unsuspecting children exploring the basement beneath St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City accidentally discover a hidden room, releasing a powerful evil imprisoned for nearly 300 years. This malevolent force is Annie, the true witch of the Salem witch trials. With a single pointed finger and a silent incantation, she once sent the town of Salem into chaos. However, a demon had warned her of a man from Zion who would come to kill her, forcing her to flee to what would become New York City. There, she buried herself underground, using her magic to grow stronger. Through her clairvoyance, Annie foresaw a future filled with mighty heroes and the rise of an era where magic and psionic powers would boom. On the winter solstice of 2000, she performed a dark ritual, transforming herself into an Echo — the remnant of a soul’s psionic energy that refuses to dissipate. Most Echos fade away, but Annie’s immense psychic power allows her to survive in this broken form. When settlers arrived in New York City, they unknowingly disturbed her, and the Catholic Church, fearing her evil, constructed St. Patrick's Cathedral on top of her tomb, burying her once more. But now, centuries later, Annie has been reawakened, possessing the bodies of the two children. Weak from years of dormancy, she sends them to find people with psionic abilities to feed on. However, she is unable to perform her ultimate spell of consuming the vast power building in the world. On Christmas Eve, four souls are summoned to New York City by an enigmatic figure known only as DS. These four — Blake Newman, Detective Rage, Finley Fenix, and Rex Murphy — are united in their quest to stop this supernatural threat. They are brought together by Damien Sanders, a wealthy man with deep ties to the Roswell Foundation, who invites them to a secret meeting at a speakeasy called The Back Room. At the meeting, Sanders reveals that a series of murders in the city appear to be suicides, except for one, which hints at a struggle. All the victims share a connection to the supernatural: paranormal investigators, supernatural hunters, and a fortune teller. As the group delves deeper into the mystery, they are joined by Hannah, an investigative reporter who believes the suicides are in fact murders. With each new death, the case becomes more perplexing, even for the sharp mind of Rex Murphy. As the investigation intensifies, Rex is tormented by vivid dreams of Jack the Ripper, who taunts him for his failure to solve the case. Jack offers a cryptic hint, and it is at that moment that Rex realizes something critical about the murders, bringing the group closer to discovering the truth. The investigation leads them back to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, where they confront the two possessed children, now acting as puppets under Annie's control. Battered and bruised, the group descends into the secret tomb beneath the church, where they face Annie in her full, terrifying form. Using powerful psionics, Annie crushes their spirits and bodies, but Blake Newman makes the ultimate sacrifice, lighting his last match to weaken her enough for Rex and Detective Sagge to land the final blow. Just as victory seems assured, a shocking twist occurs. After the final confrontation, Hannah, the reporter who had been working with the team, stabs Savage in the back. To everyone's shock, Hannah reveals herself to be a copycat killer, orchestrating some of the murders and accidently leaving signs of struggle as part of a twisted revenge plot against the supernatural hunters. Fueled by her hatred for them due to an abusive past as the daughter of a supernatural hunter, she engages Rex in a deadly duel. Despite her superior fighting skills, Rex is empowered by Jack the Ripper's influence, which had been silently coursing through him. In this crucial moment, the power of Jack the Ripper surges within Rex, granting him yellow eyes and amplifying his strength. This newfound power gives Rex the edge he needs, enabling him to overcome Hannah’s attacks and defeat her. With two swift strikes, Rex defeats her, the energy from Jack’s curse making him stronger than ever before. Rex, as he feels the power starting to corrupt him, rejects the powers and goes back to his old self. The survivors — Detective Rage, Finley Fenix, Alex Wulf, and Rex Murphy — are rushed to the hospital and eventually recruited by the Roswell Foundation. However, Rex’s victory feels hollow. Haunted by nightmares of Jack the Ripper, Rex returns to Daytona Beach, Florida, and tries to move on with his life. He visits Katie, only to find her with another man. While he smiles through the pain, he resolves to let her go. Rex began wasting his life away, avoiding the supernatural, waiting for the day that Jack would come and take his life away The rest of the group joins the Roswell Foundation, working together until they all retire. Yet, Rex never fully escapes the dark memories of that time. His life becomes a slow, quiet existence, waiting for the day when Jack the Ripper will come for him, as promised. Meanwhile, the victims of Annie and Hannah — including those close to the group — remain forever marked by the darkness they brought into the world, each a reminder of the horrors that still lurk in the shadows.
