Channel 6 - Futurecast News

Of all of the technology and changes that have been maid or are available to humanity, the news has remained relatively unchanged in the last 150 years. Sure, there were times when media shifted. Radio shows became podcasts, and some content was just streamed directly into people's consciounesses depending on their level of technological integration, but a newscast now looks very much like it did in the year 2000, baring aesthetic changes, of course.   There was a while when everyoen stopped watching cable and satellite TV, so the notion of a channel went from a frequency to something else entirely. There was a time when network television companies trie switching to AI and implementing cost-cutting measures. There was even a corporate movement to transition from broadcast television and live footage to podcasts and media forms that didn't include images.   All of these failed. Sure, the news isn't for everyone, but that was mainstream news. The scene expanded to niche 'networks' that focused on specifics, such as the 4 leged friends newscast and a televised news show dedicated specically to Tabletop PRGs.   Media continued to evolve, but people still wanted information. Visual media could never truely die, so long as humans remained visual creatures. While at it, it turned out that while AI techology increased by leaps and bounds, there was just something... human... about humans. AI newscasters could have the looks of supermodels, or even be customized per viewer, but there were still a few channels out there that employed humans, as the banter between newscasters about situations was something that could not be replicated.   Corporations did do a good job of cuttong costs, employing the use of drones, sometimes in groups, for unpresedented angels and live footage, all the while keeping most reporters out of harm's way. There was always a few people who wanted to get out in the action, be it a sporting event or severe weather.   Some of those channels and streams that survived for a while decided to add a 'channel number' to their names, in reverece to the news statiosn and channels that came before them.   This has been a bit of a history lesson for those interested. I thought i'd add a finishing touch for my final airing here at Channel 6 - Futurcast News. Those of you who know how to look will have no problems finding me, so until then, stay informed, stay empowered.   Sam Harrison, signing off.
