Sentinel

PERSONAL HISTORY

A deep-seated fear of mutants led roboticist Leonard Bohrs to design the first Sentinels: monstrous machines built expressly to hunt and kill mutants. Despite the fact that Bohrs’ original Sentinels eventually turned on him and he was forced to ask the Omega Men for help defeating them, anti-mutant bigots have continued to follow in his footsteps, creating ever-more-dangerous versions.

One of the most common variants of Sentinel is the advanced giant Sentinel. These particular models have been referred to by many names across different timelines. Sometimes, they are called “Omega Class” or “Hunter-Seeker” Sentinels. Often, they are referred to simply by their model number. Most Sentinel models numbered MKIII and above owe something to this design.

These giant Sentinels represent a half step between Bohrs’ crude original designs and the inevitable end point of Sentinel development: the creation of the unstoppable machine organism known as Nimrod.

Giant Sentinels are powerful and easily capable of annihilating many mutants, but unlike most Nimrods, they can be outsmarted. They are not fully sentient, nor are they good planners. A well-balanced team of smart heroes can usually take a giant Sentinel down.
