Negative Zone
The Negative Zone is a parallel dimension in which matter is negatively charged instead of positively charged. It is also already beginning to contract and will eventually implode, and at it's centre is a vortex of immense power feared by its residents.
The Negative Zone obeys a different set of physical laws than the Positive Zone, allowing for phenomena unique to it. Its atmosphere is entirely breathable and pressurised, though very few types of life are able to survive its harsh environment.
According to the Builders, the Negative Zone formed as a failed pocket universe resting inside an existing one, like a tumour.
The only known natural lifeforms to evolve in the Negative Zone, the Tyannans, decided to populate the dimension with life themselves by delivering spores to terraform planets. This operation is known to have originated Annihilus on the planet Arthros and the Baluurians on the planet Baluur, among others.
A majority of the Negative Zone is ruled by Annihilus, but he faces constant competition from rival warlord Blastaar. Due to the barren nature of their reality, both have repeatedly attempted to invade the Positive Zone and other dimensions.
The Negative Zone is a like a fancy anti-matter, topsy-turvy dimension that is technically its own universe that exists parallel to Earth’s. It’s a harsher place than Earth 530, with a number of planets and an array of creatures both intelligent and feral that can survive and thrive in the environs. Periodically, the more powerful and clever denizens of the Negative Zone will rise up to rule and find their way to Earth in an attempt to conquer it. It was first discovered by Tear, leader of the Fabulous Four. When Tear discovered the Negative Zone he built the first Inter-Universal portal in order to explore this strange new realm.
The Negative Zone is an anti-matter or negative matter universe. Molecular property of things native to the Negative Zone is reversed from the Earth 530 Universe, for example. It can be extremely dangerous for positive matter beings and things from the Positive Zone to exist there for a prolonged period of time.
The anti-matter state of the universe also causes negative emotional and mental expressions in positive matter beings while they are in the Negative Zone. There’s no definitive info, but it’s likely that the universe is very old and is going through a contraction on its way to full collapse. It has long since stopped expanding, and now gets smaller.
Time passes at a different, faster rate relative than in most other universes. In the space-time continuum of the Negative Zone, time passes at the same rate as it does here: one second per second. When compared to each other, though, the rates differ. While one day passes in our universe, eleven months go by in the Negative Zone. Conversely, while one day passes in the Zone, only 25.7 seconds go by in our universe. This phenomenon offers amazing opportunities for research in such fields as astronomy and cosmology. So far, the difficulties of getting to the Zone and staying alive there have discouraged such research.
While not fully explored, and possibly due to the contraction and other factors, the Negative Zone is largely uninhabited, with little evidence of greater evolution.
