Mars
PERSONAL HISTORY
As the Olympian god of war, Mars has had a hand in humanity’s conflicts for as long as the species has existed. Although he visited Earth to intervene in existing wars and foment new ones, he rarely spent extended periods on the planet—until the modern era, when his son Phobos was born.
Weary of war and eager to see more of the human world, Mars moved to Earth with his son and took on the guise of a humble carpenter named John Aaron. For the first decade of his life, Phobos thought he was nothing more than a poor kid named Alex Aaron. But eventually, Olympus came calling for Mars’ assistance, and Phobos learned the truth.
Though the pair kept trying to maintain their peaceful life on Earth, circumstances continued to pull them back into the sphere of gods and heroes. After the first superhuman civil war, Mars joined the Marvels, while Phobos was pressed into Agent Force. Mars stayed with the team after the Viridian Witch (Monica Sanders) took it over. When he realized that Sanders had been lying to him, he attacked Sanders—who had Vedette tear Mars in half. Shortly thereafter, Phobos died at the hands of Araneae (Elizabeth Parron), and father and son reunited in Elysium.
The Collector later pulled Mars out of the Olympian afterlife, and without his son to keep him grounded, the god of war redoubled his efforts to foment bloodshed on Earth. However, before he could start any major wars, Mars was sent to re-join his son in Elysium by the Deleter (Mason Ford) but has since returned to Earth.
