PERSONAL HISTORY
Gustav Brandt is a former German soldier and mercenary who became a philosophical martial artist and criminal operative. Once a member of the secretive Zodiac, Brandt is most notably the estranged father of the Solar Force Nirvana. After being blinded during a violent attack in Vietnam that killed his wife, Brandt sought refuge with the Priests of Pama, who trained him to live without sight and taught him the ways of cosmic balance.
Following years of spiritual training, Brandt returned to the criminal world, accepting a place within Zodiac under Taurus (Cornelius van Lunt). As Libra, he participated in various criminal schemes including attacks on the Marvels, the attempted takeover of Manhattan, and conflicts involving the mystical Zodiac Key. However, upon realising Nirvana was his daughter, Libra defected from Zodiac, aiding the Marvels and helping Nirvana discover her true heritage. He willingly surrendered and was imprisoned, though he later escaped under mysterious circumstances.
