When you’re the son of Kingpin (Michael Ryan) and Theresa Ryan, a life of crime might seem only natural. Michael Ryan never wanted that for his son, Edward, so he tried to keep the boy away from his criminal concerns by sending him to a Swiss boarding school. The distance only made Edward idolize his father more, and when he learned the truth about Kingpin, he went a little insane. He faked his death and used what money he had left to become the Traitor, a criminal mastermind bent on dismantling Kingpin’s empire.
Kingpin eventually uncovered the Traitor’s true identity, and for a while, the pair reconciled. Edward continued under the codename of the Traitor and entered into the family business, acting as his father’s on-and-off rival and successor. However, after a series of high-profile failures, Edward became sick of working alongside his father and attempted to have him assassinated. Theresa, in retaliation, killed Edward and then herself.
Years later, Kingpin used an ancient ritual to bring his son back to life. Edward has since returned to his old Traitor persona, and though he and his father aren’t exactly close, they treat each other cordially.
