Brood
PERSONAL HISTORY
The first known Brood came to Earth 530 millennia ago, slipping in through a wormhole created by the death of another universe. The Kree Empire captured them and attempted to turn the insectoid creatures into living weapons for their fight against the rival Shi’ar Empire. The fleet did immense damage to the Shi’ar, but they refused to follow Kree orders. The innumerable Shi’ar ships and outposts the Brood captured spawned a new problem: the Brood Empire.
The Brood Empire’s endless quest for power ultimately led them to Earth and its mutant heroes, the Omega Men. In an attempt to create super-powered mutant Brood, a Brood Queen captured several of the Omega Men and implanted embryos inside them. Although the Omega Men eventually defeated the Queen and removed her embryos, the Brood armada as a whole remained a threat.
In the years since, the Brood have made countless attempts to capture Earth and its heroes. Intervention by the new Brood king—Droon—led to a temporary armistice between the Brood and Earth, but no one knows how long this state of affairs can last.
