Anvil

PERSONAL HISTORY

One night, mad scientist Dr. Elsa Lyon (Quantum Core Mechanics) stumbled upon the body of a small-time Faxsces enforcer who had been shot in the head and left for dead in an alleyway beneath a poster for an Al Capone movie. Sensing an opportunity to experiment, Lyon took the dying man back to her lab and reconstructed his cranium, replacing the gangster’s skull with ultra-hard steel.

Lyon’s subject awoke to find that he had forgotten nearly everything about himself—except for the fact that he wanted to be like Al Capone. Under the codename Anvil, he used his unbreakable skull to fight his way through to the upper echelons of the underworld. Soon enough, he became the head of his own Capone-style family.

Anvil’s rapid rise through the underworld drew the attention of Shield Spider. Though the hardheaded gangster was rarely the shield-slinger’s foremost concern, he and Anvil duked it out dozens of times over the subsequent years, typically in the midst of larger gang wars.

During one such war, Kingpin’s men riddled Anvil with bullets, pushing him once again to the brink of death. However, in exchange for some favours, Mr. Sin not only saved Anvil’s life but agreed to pay for the gangster’s entire skeleton to be laced with adamantium.

The improved Anvil’s prospects soared—at least, for a little while as he became Kingpin of New York City. Along with most of the old Faxsces leaders, Anvil was deposed from power as Kingpin during the Tuatha's recent takeover of the New York City underworld.
