Frosthaven

Demographics: The capital of Antarctica is populated by species that are naturally adapted to climates well below 0.The majority of the population is made up of frost genasi. The other species include, Yeti, Frost goliaths, and beastfolk resembling creatures that are native to both the north and South poles. Although species not adapted to the harsh temperatures and weather are welcome to stay and live there, not many do because of the environment that could kill them if they are not constantly warm.     Services & Infrastructure:  Everyone has a part to play towards the survival of the people of the city. The hunters and foragers go to collect food. The hunters also supply the bones that are used in a lot of crafting. The miners collect resources such as ice and bronze to assist in the crafting of the various tools, structures and clothing to survive. The crafters and builders create the tools and resources needed to survive. The Frost guard serve as the city’s defence for threats both internal and external. Spellcasters are part of every part of society. There are many other roles that people play to aid the survival of the people of Frosthaven but these are the primary ones. A large part of the infrastructure is that nothing is wasted, they use every possible part of each resource. There is no cemetery or graveyard, that stone and those bodies still have use. Including as food, crafting resources and ingredients for spells and potions.     Governance & Politics:  A council of the best and most experienced people of each of the primary survival roles govern Frosthaven. One for the hunters, one for the foragers, one for the miners, one for the crafters, one for the builders and the general of the frostguard. The frostguard use armour and weapons made of ice in upper frost haven and bronze in lower Frost haven. The High general who's on the council is only one who has iron gear in the city.   Purpose & Economy:  The reason the city was built is so that the various hunter/gatherer tribes that lived in Antarctica had a place to go as a sanctuary, and a place to share the food and resources they gathered. The economy is very much based upon trade rather than currency. Currency is often only used when dealing with outsiders. Because what worth do gold and trinkets have in the harsh and unforgiving landscape of Antarctica?.   Culture & History:  At the very start it was only a couple of tribes, a family of Yeti and a family of frost genasi but from there it grew and grew as more and more tribes realised the value of sharing knowledge and resources to aid in their survival. There's not much of a religious presence in the city and there are no temples. Those who do follow a religion do so from their homes. Children are raised in their homes until they are ready to aid the survival effort. Instead of schools, the education is apprenticeships from a young age and home schooling. An individual also does not have to stay within one part of society. Instead of laying their loved ones in a grave when they die, the body is incorporated into the gear and structures used by the loved ones. Instead of a funeral, loved ones have a ceremonial feast of their organs.     Notable Locations:  The upper city is located above ground and is made up of Igloos and tents. This is where the Frostguard of the upper city and the hunter/foragers reside and make their business. There are butchers, herbalists, and a few other merchants here but not many. The Bone house is here, it's a gathering place of hunters and forgers that provides them with food, drink and medical attention. It is called the bonehouse as it constructed entirely out the bones of hunted monsters and previous citizens of Frost haven.  Lower frost haven is where there is large mining and crafting presence. With lots of Smithys, food shops, and other crafting areas. The mines contain bronze, silver, gold as well as plenty of gems. Since it is warmer and not exposed to the elements like upper frosthaven, lower frosthaven has the only inn in the city, called haven’s sanctuary. It was founded by a gnome family who moved there long ago. It is still run by that family but it has diversified the species in the family. The lower city also has a slightly higher population of species nit adapted to the cold.     Relationships with Other Settlements:  Frosthaven’s has agreements with other settlements that they bring them food and manpower that they do not have access to, usually in exchange for coin.   Points of Interest:  The only place to stay for adventurers and travelers to stay is Haven’s sanctuary in the lower city. It provides food, drink, lodging along with a job board for potential adventurers. The Bonehouse as well as a social hub and a center for food and drink, also has a Job board hanging on an old mammoth tusk that's part of the wall
