Geography
The climate is usually mild and humid. The landscape in and around the village is characterized by dark forests and mountains surrounded by fog all year round. There is a wide variety of plants and animals, the vegetation often changes between forests, tree-covered mountains, flat marshland, and overgrown swamps. Summers are often extremely hot and humid, which provides an ideal habitat for tropical fruits such as mangoes, passion fruit, dragon fruit, and melons. Along the coasts, there are often palm and banana trees, which are also cultivated and used by the inhabitants. Baskets, bowls, fishing nets, and even clothes are manufactured from palm fibers. The country is also known for its palm flower sugar, which is often used to sweeten food and tea.
Kirigakure has great biodiversity and provides a large habitat for many animal species. Black swans and mandarin ducks are often found at lakes, and carp, catfish and pike are also found in the freshwater waters. Furthermore, deer, smaller monkeys, bears, panthers and tigers can be found in the forests. However, the population of cats of prey has decreased, since they were often hunted for reasons of prestige. When the number rapidly decreased, the government established strict animal protection laws and constructed biospheres to protect the species. If looking into the luxuriant swamp area, small to medium sized reptiles like turtles, vipers and crocodiles can be found. In the seas around the wave realm you can find salmon, tuna, sharks and many other fish species. In winter it is also common to find whales migrating northwards (towards the Iron Realm).
