The Shaggrin (Sh-ah-gr-in)
The Shaggrin is a hideous and nightmarish beast spoken of in ancient Amatrian scripts. It appears in several accounts of failed spells and visionary dreams. It is described as a great malformed spider, with human fingers stretching out from its body and dragging it forward with terrible speed. Its head is like that of a grkwagger or hideous cat, with a horrifying gluttonous grin. The Shaggrin is said to represent greed, hunger and desire.
Some scholars believe it was created by Shade, king Adronte's royal sorcerer. Others say it was created in the pits of Hell.
Variations & Mutation
One ancient scroll describes the Shaggrin as having great spines and a human head smeared with blood.
Another ancient text stored in Amatrio after the fall of the Adriphite Empire described it as being "A demon under the mind of a demon." This phrase "under the mind" was meant to say "controlled by" or "under the influence of." For this reason many scholars believe that the creature was created by or under the power of some evil sorcerer or being.
