batibat
The batibat is a sleep demon which often takes the form of an older person. A batibat resides in an individual tree, not often coming into contact with humans or other sapient creatures. However, if the batibat's tree is felled and used to build a home, it will transform during the night and sit on a person's chest, suffocating them as part of bangungot. One may only awaken from their suffocation by biting their thumb or wiggling their toes.
