The Veilroot Compact
The Veilroot Compact Being a Binding of Intents and Claim Between the Unseen One Known as the Seeker of Hollow Paths, and She Who Was Named Malyra of the Crooked Grove, herein spoken of as the Governess.
On the Cycle of the Seventh Veil, in the shadow of the North-South Crossroads, before Witness-Stone and Listening Ivy, it is agreed and bound as follows:
Clause I – Of the Vessel and the Inheritance
- The bloodline of the House of Flavia shall be turned, redirected, and reseeded through Leira, firstborn and last.,
- Her naming as Heir is the Keystone of Passage; through her, the Gate beneath shall Awaken.,
- The Governess shall prepare her — body, mind, and root — until she knows her Name of Ashroot, and accepts the Mantle of Becoming.,
Clause II – Of the Threshold Beneath
- The Seeker shall reveal the Vein of Thresholds beneath the Old Crypt to the Governess and her Sis-ters Three.,
- Upon the Daughter’s Claim of Inheritance, the Threshold shall briefly open, granting passage and tether.,
- The Coven shall anchor the breach, keeping it hidden from mortal sight, until the City-Beyond may receive them.,
Clause III – Of the City Named Mindabar
- When the Gate is made whole and the path firm, the Seeker shall guide the Coven through the shad-ows between — to Mindabar, City of True Names, where masks are forbidden and hunger has form.,
- The Coven shall be granted a seat at the Table of Unveiled Ones, to hold dominion over a quarter of the City’s Wildlight.,
- In return, the Seeker is promised three names unborn, plucked from the mouths of dreamers, and one starless hour of Leira’s soul.,
Clause IV – Of Secrecy and Sundering
- Should mortal interlopers disrupt the Cycle or harm the Vessel before the Rite is complete, the Seeker shall retreat for one turn of the moon, and the Covenant shall enter Dormant Binding.,
- In such a state, the Threshold shall murmur but not open, and Leira shall remain between.,
- If the Governess or her Sisters are undone before ascension, the Bargain is shattered, and the Seek-er may claim the Chamberlain or the Steward as substitute.,
Clause V – Of Seal and Sacrament Let this pact be bound in ink of rootblood, sealed with the breath of shadow, and hidden beneath the mirror where no reflection lies.
