Cassivor Thane is a tall, reed-thin man in his late forties, with an elegant bearing and a voice trained to cut through the roar of a restless crowd. His long face is clean-shaven, his dark hair streaked with silver and always oiled flat, lending him a patrician appearance. He dresses in crimson and black silks trimmed with silver thread, echoing Maradia’s colours, and wears a chain of office around his neck inset with a polished shard of obsidian.
