Apeoth
Apeoth is an ancient dish served throughout the elvish empire. In the modern day it is symbolic for luxury and excess. It is a spiced bread, made with cumin and chilies and a number of other spices, all set in a light and fluffy dough. This combination of heavy spicing and light food is stereotypical of elvish cuisine. In particular, an appreciation of strong spice is seen as being well cultured in some circles, and pretentious in others. It can be served plain, but it more often the base of a meat salad, which includes strips of lean raw beef and arugula. With the fall of the elvish empire dishes such as this that rely on imported ingredients became considerably less common, and modern recreations of Apeoth often use far less spices than the traditional versions. The dough is also often denser and more filling in modern times, and most notably it is often served spread with butter, lard, or another fat, which would be seen as extremely uncultured.
