Windchime Qilin

Windchime Qilin are some of the strangest of their ilk. So called for the note like sounds they create, Windchime Qilin are most unique through how they utilize these sounds to manipulate emotions.   Physiologically, a Windchime Qilin is of average size and strength for Qilin, somewhere between 3-4 meters tall, and fairly unremarkable in most physical aspects compared to other Qilin. They have 2 horns, which resemble crystalline structures, and lack the hairy mane or tail of some other qilin, instead having larger scales that extrude outwards along these areas. Generally, Windchime Qilin are incredibly clean and almost give off an air of pretentiousness - they favor the most beautiful places for their nests, and can be found near fast-running water or waterfalls, which they use to bathe and groom.    However, the unique strength of the Windchime Qilin is in its lustrous, almost glass-like scales that offer comparatively lower defense then some of their cousins. However, as with most scaled creatures, Windchime Qilin shed these scales, which is where the true purpose of the scales become obvious. Instead of shedding in a full coat, their scales hang off from a single point of the new scales, clashing against the new scales and other shedded scales. The Mana suffused within the scales expels suddenly, creating Magica vibrations that travel in conjunction with the sound. Normally, these sounds travel very little distance and have no real organization - however, a mature Windchime Qilin can "tune" the scales on its body, vibrating them at specific frequencies to create widespread effects very similar to Emotion Infusion Magic.    Generally, the older the Windchime Qilin, the more likely these hanging scales will link in longer chains, sometimes with 3-5 intact scales hanging from a still-growing scale. This gives the Qilin an even more elegant look, dripping in crystals and iridescent shards. This also makes older Windchime Qilin that much more powerful, and that much more of a threat if they fall to Mania. Thankfully, Windchime Qilin are rare - unfortunately, however, they are uniquely susceptible. They have next to no other creatures that can contest them, meaning they live a long time. As well, Windchime Qilin are uniquely intelligent - especially emotionally and socially. Some Qilin Hunters have even reported that Windchime Qilin seem to know when they will fall to Mania, and seek out hunters so as to not destroy their environments.
