The Price of Magical Power

Magic is a powerful force in Eainor, but those who use it should be wary; magic comes at much cost. All magicians must excel at controlling and harnessing emotions. This takes much practice, and a mastery of emotional distancing. While this is useful for summoning certain emotions and their respective magics from within oneself, it distances one from the real world.

People you once thought funny become trivial and only mildly entertaining. That song you listened to on repeat for an entire week just doesn't give you the shivers it used to.

This can be both good and bad, for it allows good wizards to never feel the need to stop fighting evil, but it also eases wizards' conscience, allowing them to ignore how their magic can harmfully affect others without the guilty conscience.

Of course, there are those who have found the balance between magic and life, and keep somewhat their attachment to the material plane.
