Harpys

Harpys are a half-human, half-bird race. Over the centuries through interbreeding with humans, there are a wide range of appearances that they take. Some have only a human head on a large bird body, and others have only wings. Most Harpys have wings, legs, and tail of a bird, and the torso and head of a human

Basic Information

Anatomy

All Harpys have feathered wings and tails added to a humanoid head and torso, but some have arms and legs, some have only legs, some have neither, and some can change between. However, the most common Harpy body type is legs without arms.

Growth Rate & Stages

Harpys grow more at a rate of an animal than a human. Thus; they gain independence quickly and are considered adults by about fifteen when their bodies are just about to reach maturity. Also, they tend to keep growing even as they get older until about seventy, when they suddenly become weaker and soon die.

Ecology and Habitats

Most Harpys make their nests on the peaks of tall mountains, but some will live in the canopies of extremely tall pine forests.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Harpys can eat most meat raw without fear of disease, but for normal meals, they prefer to wash their meat first. Harpys can and will eat food that humans eat, but they find cooking meals unnecessary.

Biological Cycle

Harpys will usually grow thicker feathers during the winter unless they live in warm climates, which is rare.
