Donae Laevos

The Festival of Stars

Created by Christopher

History

During the time of the Haendorians, Nox, Mother Night, sewed upon her cape of night the stars. Never before had anyone on Eainor seen stars, and in celebration and as thanks to Nox, they made a festival in her honor and to the stars. In Haendorianach, Donae Laevos means festival of stars, and the words are still remembered in many modern languages. On the day before the New Moon of Midsummer, tents would be erected outside of the walls of the Great City, and a feast for all was held in the tents, awaiting the fall of darkness. Once the last trace of the sun had set, all lights would be doused. Much merriment would be made, but all would look up to the heavens and watch the stars and naming the pictures they painted in the sky.

Execution

Current practices of the Donae Laevos are done in a very similar way to the way the ancient Haendorians did, but no festival could ever be so extravagant and welcoming to so many people as the celebrations of old.
